About Us
Christmas Cheer is a nonprofit charity dedicated to sharing the Spirit of Christmas with the underprivileged children and elderly of Alamance County.
Foundation
We were founded over 100 years ago. From that very first year and as we continue today, we devote ourselves to seeing that no child in Alamance County wakes up on Christmas morning without a present under their tree. We have also expanded our mission to include caring for the forgotten elderly.
Growth
Alamance County has grown; and so has the need for assistance. In the early years, less than 100 families a year were served. Today, a full-time executive director and staff member, along with a part-time staff of two, dozens of volunteers and hundreds of sponsors, serve over 800 families a year.
Tradition
An excerpt from the children's poem “The Night Before Christmas” says, “the stockings were hung by the chimney with care, in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there.” That's what Christmas Cheer has been doing for over a century, “Keeping hope alive in the heart of a child.”
